DEXTER ASHFORD
Dexter Ashford lives in Columbia, SC, with his wife, Connie, and their daughter, Carrie. With both a BS and MS in Agribusiness from South Carolina State University, Dexter is the founder of
Ashford Family Farms
and
The Urban Farming Project
—a movement teaching communities how to grow big food in small spaces.
In 2018, he launched the Urban Farming Project Conference to spread awareness of innovative gardening techniques. Dexter also built a hydroponic grow house, hosted planting days, and spoke to incarcerated youth about food justice and self-sufficiency.
Today, Dexter leads school gardening programs, authors educational children’s books, and promotes STEM education through agriculture.
